www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College of Old Westbury women's soccer team traveled across the Hudson River to Gaelic Park, on the campus of Manhattan College, on Monday evening to take on New York University Violets in non-conference action. The Violets maintained a constant offensive surge throughout the entire match, as they defeated the Panthers, 6-0. Old Westbury dips to 7-5 overall as NYU improves to 6-3-2 on the season.

Caitlin Thomas tied a career-high with nine stops for the Panthers while six different scorers paced the NYU offense.
The Violets quickly jumped into the scoring column when Melissa Menta deposited the ball for a 1-0 edge in the third minute. The hosts doubled their lead in the 18th minute as Claire Shanahan made a crisp pass to Amelia Hammerl, who headed the ball in back of Thomas, for a 2-0 advantage. Moments later, Hammerl swiftly dribbled the ball deep inside the Panthers zone and connected to find Leslie Smith, who added the third goal for NYU in the 29th minute.
Old Westbury allowed three more goals in the second half to conclude the scoring.
For the match, NYU out-muscled Old Westbury in shots, 27-3, and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
JOHN JAY BLOODHOUNDS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers look to bounce back in less than 48 hours, as they will travel across the Triborough Bridge to Randall's Island Field 70 on Wed (Oct.) 9, when they take on the John Jay Bloodhounds in non-conference action. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
