NEW YORK, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - TThe SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team got points from seven different players in the offensive attack as the Panthers shutout the John Jay Bloodhounds, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon from Randall's Island Field 70. The win improves Old Westbury to 8-5 on the season while sending the Bloodhounds to its seventh straight loss, making them 2-10 overall.
Stephanie Maybie recorded goals in the 9th, 13th and 22nd minutes to record her third career hat trick. The three tallies on the night sparked the Panthers offense to her 13th career game-winner. Maybie posed a multitude of problems for the John Jay defense, who got in behind the back line multiple times, taking quick, effective touches and putting home chances. The hat trick for Maybie came as her first since Maritime on October 13, 2012 at Panther Park.
In addition to the three goals from Maybie,
JoAnna Kettell added a pair of scores in the 28th and 34th minutes to register her 14th career multi-goal game. Kettell assisted on Maybie's second goal of the game while
Monika Santelli was credited with the assist on Kettell's first goal.
Krystal Guerrero was credited with the assist that gave Maybie her hat trick in the 22nd minute.
Jasmine Kerby banged in her third goal of the season in the 61st minute off
Michelle Ventimiglia's second helper of the season.
Emily Winberry also got in on the action, scoring a goal in the 72nd minute to record her fourth goal of the season on Santelli's second assist of the game.
Old Westbury dominated the game for all 90 minutes, possessing the ball a majority of the match, and outshooting the Bloodhounds 40-0 in the two halves of play. The last time Old Westbury held an opponent out of the shot column was Maritime on October 13, 2012. The Panthers took 18 shots in the first half and launched 22 shots in the second half. Old Westbury owns a 96-1 advantage in shots over the last two meetings.
Caitlin Thomas posted her fifth shutout of the season while Andrea Antoni stopped 21 shots in net for John Jay.
MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to action on Friday (Oct. 11) when they host the visiting Mount Saint Mary Knights in Skyline Conference action. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from Panther Park.
