POTSDAM, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 non-conference decision on the road Saturday evening to the SUNY Potsdam Bears from Maxcy Turf Field. The loss evened up Old Westbury's record to 1-1 while the Bears improved to 3-1.

Old Westbury fell behind 1-0 in the opening period when Tom Benedetto scored 17 seconds into the match to put the Bears up. SUNY Potsdam doubled its advantage in the 17th minute with a game-winner off the foot of Eduardo Figueroa to put the Bears ahead, 2-1.

The score remained 2-0 until the 67th minute as the Panthers got on the board on Angelo DiMatteo's first goal as a Panther.

The Bears outshot Old Westbury 19-10 in the contest and also held a 7-4 edge on corner kicks.

Old Westbury keeper, Marcelo Guardado, tied a career-high with nine saves in the loss. Nick Davis finished with six for SUNY Potsdam.

SKIDMORE THOROUGHBREEDS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the pitch for a non-conference battle on Sunday afternoon, when they visit the Skidmore Thoroughbreeds. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. from Wachenheim Field.
