PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team took down the Purchase Panthers in four sets, rallying to take the final three sets (24-26, 25-20, 25-19, 25-15) on Thursday evening from the Purchase College Gymnasium to move into sixth place in the Skyline Conference standings. Old Westbury (2-14) now stands at 2-3 in conference play while sending Purchase (2-22) to 0-4. Rayn Brown was the primary force behind the charge, hammering down a match-high 12 kills to go along with 10 digs and six aces to register her third-career double-double.
Ruth Vargas followed with six kills and a career-best 26 assists, three solo blocks and one block assist in addition to scooping up nine digs. Fareeda Rousdhy controlled the floor defense with 15 digs and added five kills, five aces and one solo block and one block assist.
Elizabeth Ozuna chipped in with four aces and nine digs.
Old Westbury set season highs in attacking percentage (.142), total attacks (120), assists (28), aces (19), digs (59) and blocks (5).
Alex Lally paced Purchased with nine kills, two aces and 22 digs while Emily Seto directed the offense with 10 assists as Purchase hit .018.
USMMA MARINERS AND WILLIAM PATERSON PIONEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 25) for a non-conference tri-match in Kings Point, New York against the USMMA Mariners (10 a.m.) and William Paterson Pioneers (12 p.m.) from Edwin J. O'Hara Hall.
