@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer concludes season at home against Sage

Old Westbury closed out the 2014 season with an 8-10-0 record

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team closed out the 2014 season at home against the Sage Gators with a 6-0 Skyline Conference setback on Wednesday afternoon.  With the loss, Old Westbury concludes the season at 8-10-0 overall and 3-6-0 in conference play while Sage improved to 9-6-1 and 7-2-0.   

Sage broke the scoring ice early as Alex Lanza's throw in to Kyle LeClerc was flicked to Kevin Saar for what proved to be the game-winning goal at 3:02.  Sage added three more first-half goals on Panther goalie Peter Sicardi as Peter Fabrykiwicz (5:45), Gustavo Trinidad) and Jose Miranda (22:48) all found the back of the net to put the Gators ahead 4-0 at the break. 

Kelvin Rivera took over in goal for Old Westbury for the final 45 minute and conceding goals by LeClerc (58:14) and Elhadj Kourouma (87:49).  Rivera made five outstanding second-half saves.  Peter Sicardi (5-5-0) took Old Westbury's loss after allowing four goals and stopping one shot.

TJ Zehner (9-6-1) made two saves in 45 minutes of scoreless first-half action to claim Sage's win.

In the end, Sage held the advantage in shots (29-14), shots on goal (13-6) and corner kicks (9-6).   Adan Cruz-Velasquez's four shots and two goals led the Panthers.
