@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball Opens Skyline Conference Schedule at St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

Old Westbury competed against St. Joseph’s (L.I.) and Farmingdale State in Saturday’s Skyline Conference opening road matches


PATCHOGUE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team took a pair of three set Skyline Conference losses from the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles (25-8, 25-14, 25-14) and Farmingdale State Rams (25-11, 25-9, 25-18) to open conference play on Saturday afternoon from Danzi Center in Patchogue, New York. 
 
Against St. Joseph's (L.I.), Rayn Brown led the Panthers with two kills, one ace, one assist and four digs.  Elizabeth Ozuna, Gerlande Luca, Ruth Vargas and Olivia O'Keefe each registered one ace.  Luca added one block and two digs while Vargas chipped in with three digs.

Heather Ferchland nailed down a match-high seven kills on 11 swings to hit .455 while Jessica Montesserrato dished out 16 assists for St. Joseph's (L.I.).  Montesserrato and Kelly Estacuy each served up three of the Golden Eagles' 16 aces. 

St. Joseph's (L.I.) hit .246 on 28 kills, 14 attacking errors and 57 total attacks, compared to Old Westbury's -.250 hitting percentage on four kills, 11 attacking errors and 28 total attacks.

Against Farmingdale State, Brown tallied two kills, two aces and six digs to lead Old Westbury. Roushdy added six digs while Vargas contributed four assists and one block. 

Sarah Palladino racked up match-highs of 10 kills and 12 aces and Megan Pisciotta dished out 16 assists to lead Farmingdale State to victory.
In the end, Farmingdale State hit .328 on 28 kills, eight attacking errors and 61 total attacks while Old Westbury hit .000 with six kills, six attacking errors and 27 total attacks.    


LEHMAN LIGHTNING UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 8) against the Lehman Lightning at 6 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center in Old Westbury, New York.
