OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-15) to the visiting St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears Thursday evening in its home opener from Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury now moves to 0-5 on the young season while the Bears improved to 2-1.

Fareeda Rousdhy led the Panthers with six kills and a pair of solo blocks to go along with five digs.  Rayn Brown collected 10 digs, four kills and a pair of aces while Ruth Vargas added five kills.  Elizabeth Ozuna captained the offense with a career-high 12 assists. 

Lauren GaNun nailed down a match-leading 15 kills on 24 swings for the Bears while Samantha Cacace directed the offense with 19 assists and Anna Carbone scooped up 12 digs.
In the end, St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) held the advantage in hitting (.182 to -.029), and aces (10-4) while Old Westbury rejected three blocks, compared to the Bears' one.  


JOHN JAY BLOODHOUNDS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on September 20 against the John Jay Bloodhounds in New York, New York.  First serve is slated for 1 p.m. from Doghouse.
