TEANECK, NJ (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team opened its Skyline Conference schedule on Sunday evening with a 3-2 road loss to the Yeshiva Maccabees from University Stadium in Teaneck, New Jersey.  Old Westbury (4-2-0) starts out 0-1-0 in conference play while Yeshiva (5-1-1) improves to 1-1-1.

Yeshiva broke the scoring ice with a Daniel Amar breakaway goal at 14:17 for an early Maccabee lead.  Itamar Ben David then doubled the Maccabees' advantage with a free-kick score at 15:49 to make it a 2-0 match to close out the first-half scoring.  Yeshiva outshot Old Westbury in the opening half, 9-5.  

Leon Aboudi made it a three-goal lead for Yeshiva to open the second-half scoring books at 52:22.  Old Westbury responded with Angel Velez's first goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game.  Anthony Echevarria recorded his team-leading fourth assist of the season, setting up Velez off a corner kick at 59:41.  Old Westbury keep pressuring Yeshiva and broke through again to make it a one-goal game at 72:15, when Velez found Dominick Guidice, who headed home his team-leading fourth goal of the season.  Over the next 17:45, Old Westbury fired a total of six shots, including three on goal, but were unable to break through as time expired.    

Old Westbury held a 12-8 advantage in second-half shots, as both teams concluded the match with 17 shots.  Old Westbury owned a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks and fired nine shots on goal, compared to Yeshiva's eight. 

Peter Sicardi (2 saves, two goals allowed, 27:06) and Kelvin Rivera (three saves, one goal allowed, 51:54) split time in net for the Panthers as Maor Feinstein made four saves for Yeshiva.


BARUCH BEARCATS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 16) against the Baruch Bearcats in non-conference action from Pather Park at 4 p.m.
