Schildt Scores for @OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer in Conference Opener at Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College of Old Westbury women's soccer team (3-3-1, 0-1-0) opened Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon with a 5-1 road loss to the Mount Saint Mary Knights (4-2-0, 1-0-0) from Kaplan Field.  Old Westbury (3-3-1, 0-1-0) while the Knights (4-2-0, 1-0-0)
 
The Knights got off to a fast start when Melissa Guillemette launched a corner kick to Renee Schult, who needed a 1-0 Mount Saint Mary lead in the 11th minute of play. Nicole Gianotti put home a rebound past Panther goalie Caitlin Thomas to double the Knights' advantage at 21:54 for a 2-0 Knight lead.  Moments later, Old Westbury answered back with Stephanie Maybie's first assist of the season to Jordan Schildt  in the middle of the box to slice the deficit in half at 24:45.  Mount Saint Mary held the edge in shots (9-2) and corner kicks (3-0) to take a 2-1 lead into the break.  .

Mount Saint Mary pressured the Panthers throughout the final 45 minutes of play to earn the victory.  Marissa Segreto made it a 3-1 game at 46:23 to break the second-half scoring ice.  Segreto and Gianotti each added goals in the 61st and 62nd finals to give Mount Saint Mary a 5-1 final.   

In the end, Mount Saint Mary held the advantage in shots (24-4) and corners (9-0). 

Thomas (3-3-1) allowed five goals and made six saves in defeat for Old Westbury while Mary Riley (4-2-0) made two saves and allowed the lone Panther goal for the Knights.
