PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College of  Old Westbury Women's Soccer team ended their two-game losing streak Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 non-conference road win against the Manhattanville Valiants from GoValiants.com Field in Purchase, New York.  The win improved the Panthers to 4-3-1 on the season as the Valiants dipped to 1-7.

The Panthers opened the scoring books early when Kassandra Franco found Stephanie Maybie, who then streaked past the Manhanttanville defense in the fourth minute to net her conference-leading 13th goal of the season.  Maybie then doubled the Panthers' advantage off Jordan Schildt's fourth assist of the season at the 18:39 mark for a 2-0 lead.  Old Westbury outshot Manhattanville 12-3 to take a two-goal lead into the half.

The Valiants broke through in the 76th minute to slice the deficit in half with Christie DeMarco's third goal of the season to make it a 2-1 game.  Both teams each had four scoring opportunities in the final 24 minutes, but were unable to find the back of the net as Old Westbury held on for the road win. 

Maybie fired 13 (nine on goal) of Old Westbury's 20 shots as the Panthers held the advantage in shots (20-11), shots on goal (12-5) and corner kicks (6-4).
 
Melissa Muller (1-0-0) made four saves in her first-career start to earn Old Westbury's win.  Dolores Diemicke (1-5-0) recorded 10 saves in defeat for Manhattanville.

PURCHASE PANTHERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns to Skyline Conference play on Saturday (Sept. 28) on the road against the Purchase Panthers at 12 p.m. from Purchase College Field in Purchase, New York.
