Rivera Stops Career-Best 11 Shots for @OW_Panthers Men's Soccer Against Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College of Old Westbury men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 Skyline Conference setback on the road Saturday afternoon to Mount Saint Mary Knights from Kaplan Field.  The loss moved Old Westbury's record to 6-4-0 on the season and 1-2-0 in conference play, while Mount Saint Mary improved to 5-2-1 and 2-0-0, respectively.   

The Knights opened the scoring books at 15:56 when Sean Lockwood scored from inside the box to provide the home team with a one-goal lead.  Matt Minniter then doubled the Knight advantage at 35:51 with the assist going to Jarret Armstrong that sent Mount Saint Mary into the half with a two-goal lead.  Panther goalie Kelvin Rivera made eight first-half saves as Mount Saint Mary outshot Old Westbury, 18-2.   

The second half saw the Knights offensive attack score two more goals while outshooting Old Westbury (15-3).  Matt Garcia (55th minute) and Lockwood (60th minute) each scored to secure Mount Saint Mary's 4-0 win.   

Mount Saint Mary held the advantage in shots (33-5), shots on goal (15-1) and corner kicks (11-3).  Old Westbury was held to single-digit shots for just the second time this season. 
 
Rivera (2-1-0) made a career-high 11 saves in defeat for the Panthers while Austin Peluso (4-2-1) stopped three shots to pick up the Knights' win. 

SAGE GATORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for a Skyline Conference battle on Saturday (Oct. 4) against the Sage  Gators from Panther Park at 4 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.
