Maybie Extends Point Streak for @OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer Against Purchase

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College of Old Westbury women's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Purchase Panthers in Skyline  Conference road action on Saturday afternoon from Purchase College field.  The loss moved Old Westbury's record to 4-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play, while Purchase improved to 4-4-0 and 2-0-0, respectively.   

Stephanie Maybie got Old Westbury off to a fast start when she put home her conference-leading 15th goal of the season off Emily Winberry's cross for a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into play.  Maybie's goal helped extended her point streak to six games while scoring nine goals during that stretch.  Purchase fired back at 6:37 with Amanda Green's game-tying goal for her seventh score of the season courtesy of Emily Saltman.  Green returned the favor by assisting on Saltman's third goal of the season at 13:59 for what proved to be the eventual game-winning Purchase goal.  Despite trailing at half, Old Westbury outshot Purchase, 13-4, in the opening 45 minutes.

Green netted the lone goal in the second half at 79:39 to close out the scoring books to secure a 3-1 Purchase win.   

Maybie once again carried Old Westbury's offense with eight of the visiting Panthers' 21 shots.  In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (21-10), shots on goal (11-7) and corner kicks (8-0).  Caitlin Thomas (3-4-1) made four saves in defeat for Old Westbury while Imani Humphries (3-2-0) made 10 stops to earn Purchase's win.   

STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to non-conference action on Tuesday (Sept. 30) against the visiting Staten Island Dolphins from Panther Park at 4 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.
