Old Westbury battled Medgar Evers and New Rochelle on Saturday in non-conference road action

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the New Rochelle Tri-Match, falling in straight sets to the Medgar Evers Cougars (25 12, 25-9, 25-20) and the New Rochelle Blue Angels (25-6, 25-6, 25-11) from The Wellness Center.  The losses drop Old Westbury's record to 0-3 on the young season.

In the opener against Medgar Evers (1-2), Rayn Brown served up a team-best four aces while Shannon Mullen and Olivia O'Keefe each added one.  Fareeda Roushdy nailed down three kills to lead the Panthers and Brown scooped up four digs. 

Kalifa Roberts totaled a match-high with seven kills and Ann Marie Bemberry captained the Cougars' offense with 12 assists.  Roberts and Kiwelewa Milmwengu each totaled five of Medgar Evers' 21 aces.

Against New Rochelle (4-3), O'Keefe registered four aces while Brown and Roushdy each tallied two kills.  Brown also led the Panthers with seven digs while Roushdy followed with five. 

Fabiola Padilla Rios's match-high nine aces and seven kills paced New Rochelle's offense.  Indigo Flowers distributed 17 assists while Rosa Angeles finished with nine digs.   

CCNY BEAVERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury looks to bounce back next Tuesay (Sept. 9) when they square off against the CCNY Beavers in non-conference action in New York, New York.  First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from Nat Holman Gymnasium.
