@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer scores early in Senior Day showdown versus Sage

Old Westbury closes out regular-season play Tuesday at St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) Senior Dana Yool scored her fourth goal of the season, but the SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team fell 4-1 on Saturday afternoon to the Sage Gators in Skyline Conference action from Panther Park.

Prior to kickoff, as part of Senior Day festivities, the team recognized the contributions of seniors Allie McDonough (2014-15), Michelle Ventimiglia, (2013-15) and Yool (2014-15) in a midfield ceremony.  Accompanied by their families, the seniors were presented with a framed action photo signed by the 2015 women's soccer team in front of home fans who've cheered them on throughout their careers at Old Westbury.

Yool opened the scoring in the 20th minute by finishing off a feed from Michelle Ventimiglia to put the Panthers (8-6-1, 5-3-1 Skyline) ahead early with her fourth goal of the season.  Old Westbury would take that 1-0 lead into the half despite Sage holding the edge in shots, 4-3 (4-1 on target).

Sage (13-4-0, 8-1-0 Skyline) responded 1:03 into second-half play with Taylor Lynch's equalizer from Cassidy Bruen to knot the game at 1-1.  Savannah Mason then scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute off a cross from Monica Koralus.  Moments later, Samantha Trimblett found Lynch for a breakaway goal in the 59th minute.  Koralus would settle the scoring in the 74th minute off Jordyn Logan's assist to make it a 4-1 final.

In the end, Sage held the advantage in shots (15-9), shots on goal (11-4) and corner kicks (5-4).

Old Westbury goalkeeper Melissa Muller (6-6-1) recorded seven saves in defeat while Nicole Maher (12-2-0) stopped three shots for Sage.

ST. JOSEPH'S (L.I.) GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out regular-season play Tuesday (Oct. 27) evening with a Skyline Conference road showdown against the St. Joseph'(L.I.) Golden Eagles.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. from Danzi Stadium in Patchogue, New York.
