@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer rolls to fifth-straight win

Old Westbury extended its best start in school history with a 4-1 conference win at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer rolled to its fifth-straight win Wednesday to improve to 7-3-0 on the season, routing the Maritime Privateers, 4-1, in Skyline Conference road action from Reinhart Field.  Old Westbury now sits atop the conference standings at 4-0-0 while sending Maritime (5-7-0) to 2-3-0 in league play.  As a result of Wednesday's big win, the Panthers extended its best start in school history.

Old Westbury was aggressive from the start as Edania Martinez fired one of her match-high 14 shots just 24 seconds into play.  The Panthers, who outshot Maritime 44-7 during the match, were locked in a scoreless tie at halftime despite holding a 20-1 edge in shots at the end of 45 minutes.

Melissa Outsen broke the scoring ice in the 52nd minute after finishing a feed from Dana Yool for her team-leading ninth goal of the season.  Moments later, Martinez put home a rebound off Yool's shot to double the Panthers' advantage in the 59th minute to register her fifth career game-winning goal.  In the 69th minute, Outsen dished out her team-leading fifth assist of the season to setup Old Westbury's third goal as Martinez beat Maritime goalkeeper Cammie Havens.  Martinez would later collect her first-career hat trick after uncorking a laser towards the right post for the Panthers' 4-0 lead with 7:41 left on the clock.

With just 48 seconds remaining, Maritime's Gayle Woods scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season to deny Old Westbury's bid at its fifth-straight shutout.
Panther goalie Melissa Muller's (6-3-0) shutout streak reached just under 449 minutes prior to conceiving Maritime's lone goal.  Muller collected one save in the game, stopping Woods' attempt in the 86th minute.  Haven's (5-7-0) finished with 16 saves in defeat for the Privateers.
