Old Westbury set to honor five seniors on Thursday (Feb. 19) in final home game against St. Joseph's (L.I.)

THROGGS NECK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team outscored the Maritime Privateers by 16 points in the second half to roll to Tuesday's 80-67 Skyline Conference road win from Riesenberg Gymnasium in Throggs Neck, New York.  With the win, Old Westbury (10-13) improves to 10-6 in league action while the Privateers (6-18) slipped to 4-13.

Omari Trebuse poured in a game-high 20 points (7-12 FG, 4-5 3FG) to lead three other Panthers in double-digit scoring.  Floyd Leroy followed with 18 points (5-12 FG), nine rebounds and two blocks while Luckens Victor tied career-highs with 13 points and 11 rebounds to register his first career double-double.  Victor also added a career-high three steals to go with one blocked shot.  Reynaldo Walters added 12 points, five assists and five rebounds.  Mark Gjonlekaj contributed nine points, seven rebounds and three steals to the win.

Brendon Halligan (17 points), T'Vaughn Gibson (16 points) and Patrick MacDonald (14 points) each scored in double figures to pace Maritime.  MacDonald also grabbed 11 rebounds and swatted three shots.

It took nearly two minutes before Trebuse's three pointer broke a scoreless tie at 18:12 of the opening half to put Old Westbury ahead 3-0.  Old Westbury followed with a Victor dunk, which made it a five-point game.  Moments later, Leroy scored six of Old Westbury next eight points as part of an 8-2 Panther run to take a 16-8 lead with 14:26 remaining for its largest margin of the half.  Maritime chipped away and tied the game at 26-all with 6:07 left off a Tim Hoch layup.  Halligan then connected from long distance to put the Privateers in control with a 29-26 lead.  Maritime's first-half lead reached six points before Trebuse sank a three pointer as time expired to make it a 36-33 game at the break.

Maritime rattled off an 8-1 run early in the second half to push its lead to six points (50-44) with 14:19 showing on the second-half clock.  Down by seven points, Old Westbury used an 8-0 run capped by Walters' three-point play to put the Panthers up for good (55-54) with 10:15 remaining.  Old Westbury made all four of its field goal attempts and sank 8-of-11 from the free-throw line to close out the final 2:52 with a 16-3 run to secure the win.  With 33 seconds left, Gjonlekaj drained a pair of free throws to make it a 79-64 game, giving Old Westbury its largest lead of the night.

In the end, Old Westbury shot 35.7 percent from the field (25-70), 32.1 percent from three-point territory (9-28) and 63.6 percent from the free-throw line (21-33) while Maritime connected on 43.1 percent from the floor (25-58), 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (10-30) and 50 percent from the charity stripe (7-14).  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 47-44, scoring 12 second-chance points off 18 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury also converted 19 Privateer turnovers into 24 points.
