Gallagher’s 18 points leads @OW_Panthers Women’s Basketball to Play 4Kay Senior Day win

Senior Clarissa Gallagher totaled 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in Saturday's season finale

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team captured a 97-52 Play 4Kay Senior Day victory in Saturday's season finale against the Purchase Panthers from Clark Athletic Center.  With the win, Old Westbury closed out the 2015 campaign with an 11-14 overall record and 4-8 in conference play while sending Purchase to 4-20 and 1-11, respectively. 

Prior to opening tip, Clarissa Gallagher was honored for her four-years of dedication to Old Westbury Athletics with the annual Senior Day Ceremony.  Gallagher poured in a game-high 18 points (7-14 FG), connecting on 4-of-9 from three-point range in addition to racking up 10 rebounds, five steals (tied career-high) and three assists to record her fourth-career double-double.  Gallagher compiled 1,049 points and knocked down 208 three-point field goals (34.5%) in addition to 449 rebounds, 180 assists and 129 steals in 95 career games.    

Raven Pentz used 10 points (2-3 3FG), 10 assists and a career-best six steals to rack up her fifth-career double-double.  Crystal Barnes finished with 12 points (6-11 FG), 13 rebounds and two blocks to collect her 10th double-double of the season.  Jasmine Robinson totaled 15 points, seven assists (career high) and three steals while Bridgid McNeill went for a career-high 15 points (7-11 FG) and seven rebounds.  Nikki Alexander and Chloe Mellon each pulled down double-digit rebounds, finishing with 11 and 10 boards, respectively. 

Jeidar Cole's 15 points, 13 rebounds and three steals paced Purchase.  Michelle Rupelli scored 14 points and Allison Haugh added 10. 

Gallagher's jumper 39 second into play opened the scoring books to put Old Westbury in front early.  Purchase answered with a Rupelli triple for their lone lead of the game (3-2) with 18:31 showing on the first-half clock.  Gallagher then connected on a three pointer of her own at 18:17 to put Old Westbury up for good.  Old Westbury jumped out to a 10-3 lead off McNeill's layup at 15:05.  Old Westbury later used a 16-1 run to push its lead to 23 points (38-15) with 2:57 remaining.  Old Westbury took a 45-26 advantage into the half.      

Robinson's layup at 16:33 sparked a 9-0 Old Westbury run to grab a 63-34 lead with 14:38 remaining.  Old Westbury followed with a 12-2 run from 11:44 to 5:02 to extend its lead to 85-46.  Old Westbury closed out the final 4:14 with a 10-3 spurt as McNeill dumped in a layup to push Old Westbury's lead to a game-high 45 points with 41 seconds left. 

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 39.4 percent from the field (39-99), 31 percent from three-point range (9-29) and 52.6 percent from the free-throw line (10-19) while Purchase shot 26.2 percent from the floor (17-65), 15.8 percent from beyond the arc (3-19) and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe (15-24).  Old Westbury pulled down a season-high 73 boards to earn a +31 rebounding edge, scoring 25 second-chance points off a season-best 31 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury also dished out a season-best 29 assists and converted 23 Purchase turnovers into 26 points.
