OLD WESTBURY, NY - (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - SUNY Old Westbury baseball closed out regular-season play at home Thursday afternoon versus the Ramapo Roadrunners (28-14), dropping an 11-1 decision from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.

The Panthers (25-11) will return to action next Wednesday (May 13), at the NCAA Division III Regional Championship Tournament. Old Westbury earned a playoff slot after winning the Skyline Conference title last weekend. The NCAA tournament field will be announced Sunday (May 10) night.

Scott Shields singled to break the scoring ice in the third off left-handed reliever Caleb Olesen (5-3, 7 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) to put the Roadrunners ahead. Three batters later, Robert DeAngelis (2-for-4, 2 R) advanced home off Olesen's wild pitch to double Ramapo's advantage. Scott Peschiani (2-for-3, 2 RBI) followed with a two-run single to make it a 4-0 game.

The Roadrunners tacked on four-more runs in the fourth, highlighted by Shields' two-run double. Joe Venturino's sacrifice fly drove in the seventh run before Shields scored on a passed ball by catcher Brandon Stein for Ramapo's 8-0 lead.

Ramapo starting right-hander Walker Larson (9-2, 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K) took a no-hit bid into the fifth inning until Dean Sheridan singled to center field to put Old Westbury in the hit column.

Old Westbury right-handed reliever Tyler Kapela allowed a RBI single to Jared Ensmenger in the seventh, and three batters later, Rob Meola's (2-for-2, 2 RBI) two-run double off righty Nick Dorcean closed out Ramapo's scoring. Dorcean fanned six batters while scattering four hits in three innings of work.

Left-handed reliever Tyler Curto allowed Old Westbury's lone run as Robinson Hernandez scored off a wild pitch in the eighth inning. Hernandez reached base with a one-out single, advanced to second on Carlos Balmaceda's walk, and moved to third off a double steal before scoring.
