@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer upends Mount Saint Vincent, 1-0, on the road

Old Westbury got off to a 1-0 start in the Skyline Conference standings with Saturday's win

RIVERDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer established an aggressive tone early as they took the 1-0 road decision over the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins in Saturday's Skyline Conference opener from the Athletic Field at Marillac in Riverdale, New York.

Old Westbury started the match on the attack as Edania Martinez took Old Westbury's (3-3-0, 1-0-0 Skyline) first shot 1:13 into the contest.  After the Panthers put up two more shots early in the opening half, Mount Saint Vincent (1-4-0, 0-1-0 Skyline) registered its first shot at 6:16 by Julia McGowan that went wide.  The Dolphins went on to take the final two shots of the half and held a 7-5 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes of play as both teams went into intermission locked in a scoreless tie.

Mount Saint Vincent picked up the pace in the second half, firing away three shots on goalkeeper Melissa Muller during the opening 3:16 of the stanza.  Moments later, Old Westbury answered with two shots of its own before Dana Yool fed Melissa Outsen off a rebound in the 56th minute for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.  Following Outsen's first-career game winner, Mount Saint Vincent continued to put pressure on the Old Westbury defense but the Panthers held tight and came away with their second shutout of the 2015 campaign.

For the match, Muller (2-3-0) collected eight saves and recorded her first-career shutout.  Elizabeth Martin (1-4-0) made two saves in defeat for Mount Saint Vincent.

The Dolphins finished the match with the edge in shots (15-8), shots on goal (8-3) and corner kicks (9-1).
