@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball sweeps past York at home

Old Westbury rolls into Saturday’s (Oct. 3) matchup against defending Skyline Conference Champion Sage

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- 
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball moved to 4-5 on the season with Wednesday's three-set sweep (25-16, 25-18, 25-22) over the visiting York Cardinals (3-11) in non-conference action from Clark Athletic Center. 

Sofia Goris served up four aces to lead the charge during a key 10-0 first-set rally to give the Panthers a 17-10 advantage. 

Old Westbury used a 10-3 run to close out the second stanza after both teams combined for six lead changes and were tied eight times during a wild second set.

In the third set, Goris served up four-straight points to put the Panthers in front for good, 18-15.   

Chelsey Hoffman led the way for Old Westbury with 15 assists, eight kills (tied career-high), eight digs and two aces while Goris produced career-highs of nine aces and 11 digs.  Rayn Brown added eight kills and 14 digs as Brianne Dorney chipped in with a career-best eight digs, four kills (tied career-high) and two aces.

Kiranjeet Kaur directed the Cardinal offense with a match-high 19 assists to go with 14 digs.  Mary Pamolarco scooped up a mach-leading 19 digs.  Renee Daley followed with 12 digs and nailed down eight kills. 

Old Westbury finished with its third highest ace total of the season, 14, and hit .077 as a team compared to .051 for the Cardinals.   


SAGE GATORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon with a Skyline Conference showdown against the Sage Gators at 12 p.m. from the Danzi Center in Patchogue, New York.
