Gameday Program

OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team let a 3-1 lead slip away Wednesday afternoon and suffered a 4-3 setback to the visiting Lehman Lightning in non-conference action from Panther Park.

Caio Mancanares found Maurice Whyte just 48 seconds into play for the quick score to put Lehman (2-1-0) ahead early.  Old Westbury (0-3-0) responded in the 14th minute with a goal-scoring pass by Jose Gomez to Tana Weekes for the equalizer.  Dominick Guidice followed with Old Westbury's second goal in the 16th minute, receiving a pass from Weekes before burying it past Lehman's Irvin Barreto for a 2-1 lead.  Old Westbury goalie Peter Sicardi denied Mancanares' penalty kick attempt at the end of the opening half to send the Panthers into intermission with a one-goal cushion.

Old Westbury struck again to take a 3-1 lead off Ronald Monge's pass to Jon Kerby in the 61st minute.

Playing from behind, Lehman was determined not to go away quietly as the Lightning struck three times in the final 21 minutes to grab the win.  Mancanares made it a one-score game in the 69th minute off a pass from Gentian Muhaxheri.  Whyte then tied the game in the 80th minute with a loose-ball goal to make it a 3-3 contest.  Marco Correia headed home the game-winning goal in the 86th minute off a throw-in pass from Ramone Rowe to solidify the victory.

Overall, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (18-17) and corner kicks (4-1), while Lehman landed nine shots on goal, compared to the Panthers' seven.

Sicardi (0-3-0) stopped five shots in defeat and Barreto saved four.
