THROGGS NECK, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball defeated the Maritime Privateers 79-65 Wednesday evening in Skyline Conference road action inside Riesenberg Hall.  The victory gave the first-place Panthers (10-6) their fourth-straight win to improve to 9-2 in conference play while sending the Privateers (2-13) to 2-8.

Both teams combined to register four lead changes through the opening 10:23 of play.  During that span, Maritime was unable to extend past their one-point lead.  Jamail Stanley's tip-in capped a 17-5 Panther run to give Old Westbury a 36-23 lead with 2:27 remaining in the half.  Maritime answered with a 7-0 spurt to cut the deficit to six points (36-30) before P.J. Page drained a jumper with two seconds left to send Old Westbury into the half with a 38-30 lead.

Page opened the second-half scoring with a layup to extend Old Westbury's lead to 10 points (40-30) with 19:11 left.  Brendon Halligan scored five of Maritime's next 10 points as part of a 10-0 run to erase deficit.  Tied at 55-all, Lylle Ryals dropped in a layup to spark a 16-5 Panther run to bring the lead to 11 points (68-57) with 3:43 showing on the second-half clock.  Ryals' three pointer with 1:05 remaining put Old Westbury ahead by double-digits as the Panthers held the Privateers to two points over the final 2:48.

Stanley used 23 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, three assists and one block to record his sixth double-double of the season.  Page scored 16 of his career-best 21 points (7-of-13 FG, 3-of-3 3FG) in the second half.  He added a career-high nine rebounds in addition to adding three assists and two blocks to his statline.  Ryals finished with 15 points and two steals while Stephon Odle registered 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Halligan scored 17 points to lead Maritime.  John Liccese netted 14 while Patrick MacDonald totaled 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Old Westbury shot a season-high 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range and landed 44.6 percent (29-of-65 FG) from the field and 68.4 percent (13-of-19 FT) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Maritime connected on 39.3 percent (24-of-61 FG) from the floor, 40.7 percent (11-of-27 3FG) from beyond the arc and 50 percent (6-of-12 FT) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury finished with a +11 (46-35) rebound margin, scoring 22 second-chance points off 15 offensive boards.  The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (10-9), points in the paint (34-24), points off turnovers (16-10), fast-break points (10-6) and bench points (17-7).
