@OW_Panthers Women’s Volleyball concludes season with St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) and Maritime battle

Old Westbury closed out the 2016 season Sunday with a Skyline Conference play date at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball traveled to SUNY Maritime Sunday afternoon for a Skyline Conference tri-match against the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) Bears (12-12, 3-8 Skyline) and the host Privateers (14-14, 6-5 Skyline) in Throggs Neck, New York.  Old Westbury (4-21, 2-9 Skyline) lost in three sets to St. Joseph's (25-13, 25-15, 25-17) and Maritime (25-5, 25-23, 25-8) in its season finale inside Riesenberg Gymnasium.

In the opener against St. Joseph's, Marie McKenzie led the Panthers with a career-high eight kills, nine digs (tied career-high) and five blocks (tied career-high).  Sofia Goris chipped in with six digs and moved the offense with 12 assists to go along with serving three of the team's four aces.  Olivia O'Keefe added five kills and six digs while Shanayia Lloyd and Nikia Gardon scooped seven digs a piece.

Briana Marrazo nailed down a match-high 10 kills as Alanna Palomino dished out 21 assists (match-high) to lead St. Joseph's.  Elizabeth Quahliero served eight of the Bears' 14 aces.  Samantha Cacace (12) and Valentina Urgo (10) contributed 22 of 47 digs for St. Joseph's.

Against Maritime, Gardon tied a career high with three of Old Westbury's seven aces.  Gardon also produced three kills to pace Old Westbury.  McKenzie added two kills, one ace, one block and seven digs as Goris contributed four assists.

Shannon Brady racked up a match-high nine kills as Erika Bailey handed out 24 assists to go with 10 digs to lead Maritime.  Carly Lombardo and Gabrielle Kempski chipped in with eight kills apiece, and served five and four aces, respectively.
