Old Westbury remains on the road for Wednesday’s matchup with Manhattanville

NEW PALTZ, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball fell 7-3 Tuesday afternoon to the New Paltz Hawks in non-conference road action from Loren Campbell Memorial Field.

Michael Cardino (3-for-4, HR, 2 R) homered for the third time in his career to give the Panthers (13-7) a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

New Paltz (11-6-2) tied the game in the second inning with Taylor Anderson's (3-for-4, 2 RBI, R) RBI double.

Old Westbury pulled in front in the fourth with two runs to take a 3-1 lead.  Dean Sheridan and Cardino both singled to lead off the frame.  Three batters later, Carlos Balmaceda lifted a sacrifice fly to score Sheridan before Cardino crossed home plate on New Paltz starter Luke Christy's (2-0, 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 8 K) wild pitch.

The Hawks tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with Ryan Frost's (3-for-4, 3 RBI) two-run double to end Panther starter Danny D'Onofrio's (ND, 3.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 3 K) outing.

New Paltz took control of the game with a three-run sixth inning off reliever Vinny Caputo (1-2, 4.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 2 K) as Anderson doubled to score Andrew DiNardo (3-for-4, 2 R) for the game-winning run.

Justin Stybel tossed three innings of no-hit ball to earn New Paltz's save.
