HOBOKEN, NJ --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball made history by playing in its first-ever NCAA Tournament game Friday against the Stevens Ducks (22-6) from Canavan Arena in Hoboken, New Jersey. Stevens created separation during the third quarter to advance past the Panthers (23-6) for the 76-50 first-round victory.

Old Westbury found itself behind 7-0 early on. Raven Pentz brought Old Westbury back by scoring the Panthers' opening eight points to make it a 12-8 game at 5:44. Pentz scored all but two of Old Westbury's first-quarter points as Stevens took a 26-15 lead into the second period.

The Panthers got as close as six points with 7:45 left off Jasmine Robinson's layup. Robinson then nabbed her 100th steal of the season at 5:42 to become the first Panther since Kim Weathers in 2010-11 to record the century mark in a single-season. Stevens outscored the Panthers 8-4 over the final 7:15 to take a 34-24 lead into intermission.

Stevens put the game away with a 14-3 run over the final 4:51 of the third to grow its lead to 22 (53-31). The Ducks maintained the 20-point lead and stretched its cushion to a game-high 32 points with 3:23 showing on the fourth-quarter clock.

Pentz poured in 21 points (7-of-17 FG) to go with seven rebounds to pace Old Westbury in her final game. Monique Joseph followed with nine points and eight rebounds while Jasmine Robinson added six points and six steals. Pentz finished her 103-game career with 990 points, 458 assists, 425 rebounds and 155 steals. The Panthers will also graduate seniors Olivia Ilardi (2012-16), Crystal Barnes (2012-13, 14-16), Kendra Jordan (2014-16) and Antoinette Metoyer (2013-14, 15-16).

Erica Guketlov scored a game-high 22 points to lead Stevens to victory.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 26.2 percent (17-of-65) from the field, 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from three-point range and 56 percent (14-of-25) at the free-throw line. By comparison, Stevens hit on 43.8 percent (28-of-64) from the floor, 37 percent (10-of-27) from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the line. Stevens won the boards battle, 46-44, scoring 14 second-chance points off 14 offensive rebounds. Old Westbury finished with an 11-5 advantage in steals.
