SELINSGROVE, PA --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball held the lead on the No. 19 Susquehanna Crusaders throughout the opening 24:01 in first-round round play at the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament Friday evening inside Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.  However, the host Crusaders grabbed their first lead of the game and maintained it throughout the remainder of the game to claim the 77-73 victory to advance to second-round action versus the No. 16 Babson Beavers.

Old Westbury (19-9) concludes its campaign with its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2004.

The Panthers controlled play in the opening minutes, jumping out to an 11-3 lead as Jamail Stanley netted the Panthers' first eight points.  Susquehanna answered with an 8-0 run before Stanley replied with back-to-back layups to push the lead to four (15-11) with 14:50 remaining.  Lylle Ryals came off the bench to knock down a 3-pointer that ignited a 7-0 Panther run to build the lead to 10 (30-20) at 8:10.  Moments later, Old Westbury took a 36-25 lead off Ryals' layup with 6:07 showing on the first-half clock.  Ryan Traub dropped in two of his 10 first-half points to spark a 6-0 run to pull the Crusaders within three (37-34).  Both teams traded 3-pointers in the final minute as Old Westbury took a 40-37 lead into intermission.

Stanley started the second-half scoring with a 3-pointer 31 seconds into play to push Old Westbury's lead to six (43-37).  Steven Weildich's 3-pointer capped a 10-2 Crusader run to give Susquehanna its first lead of the game (47-45) with 15:59 remaining.   Stanley tied the game with a pair of made free throws to make it a 47-47 game.  Susquehanna used a 7-0 spurt to take a 54-47 lead with 13:40 left.  Old Westbury answered back as Page converted on a trio of free throws to trim its deficit to two (56-54).  The Crusaders landed back-to-back triples by Weidlich and Dalton Reichard to extend their lead to nine points (65-56) at 7:53.  Susquehanna maintained the lead and held a nine-point cushion with 37 seconds remaining before the Panthers closed out the game with an 8-3 run.

Stanley tied a career high with 31 points (11-of-18 FG, 3-of-6 3FG) and finished with eight rebounds, four steals, three blocks and three assists.  Ryals followed with 15 points (5-of-8 FG) and three steals.  Page added 13 points (6-of-6 FT) and two blocks.
