Old Westbury remains at home for Saturday’s Skyline Conference matchup with Mount Saint Vincent

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 2-0 Skyline Conference decision Wednesday afternoon to the visiting St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles (2-6, 2-1 Skyline) from Panther Park.

Old Westbury (3-4, 1-2 Skyline) took five first-half shots as Mayra Bonilla's attempt on goal in the 14th minute was denied by Golden Eagle goalie Samantha Wedderburn.  Christina Gagliardi broke the scoring ice in the 15th minute by gathering a loose ball in front of the box to fire past Panther goalie Jessica Tuckrusyke for the 1-0 lead.  Kristin Carroll would later double the Golden Eagles' advantage in the 43rd minute after finishing a feed from Josseline Sorto to send a 2-0 game into the half.

Bonilla and Sarah Roslonowski accounted for both Old Westbury shots in the second half as St. Joseph's attempted three.
 
In the end, St. Joseph's held the edge in shots (13-7), shots on goal (9-4) and corner kicks (3-2).
 
Tuckruskye (0-1) stopped seven shots while Wedderburn (0-6) made four saves to secure the Golden Eagles' win.
 
COLLEGE OF MOUNT SAINT VINCENT DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS:  Old Westbury remains at home Saturday (Oct, 1) for a Skyline Conference showdown at 12 p.m. with the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins inside Panther Park.
