@OW_Panthers Women’s Basketball topples Mount Saint Vincent for 81-57 Skyline win

Old Westbury has won 11 of its last 12 games

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- 
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball extended their win streak to five games Tuesday evening after claiming an 81-57 Skyline Conference victory at home over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (12-6, 8-3 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury (15-3, 8-3 Skyline) has now won 11 of its last 12 games.

Trailing 6-3 early on, Old Westbury used a 27-4 spurt from 6:58 to 1:08 kick-started by Tori Bellings' 3-pointer to take control of the game.  During the run, Jasmine Robinson scored 10 of her 13 first-quarter points to spark the Panthers to a 30-14 lead at the end of one period of play.  The Dolphins scored six-straight points to open the second quarter to make it a 10-point game (30-20).  Old Westbury went up by as many as 18 in the stanza to maintain its double-digit lead and later took a 16-point cushion (45-29) into intermission. 

Old Westbury scored 11 unanswered points from 5:45 to 2:08 to extend its lead to 23 (60-37) late in the third quarter.  Charlotte Renker's layup with 3:14 remaining in the period gave the Panthers a 20-point lead for the remaining 13:14 of play.  Erica Ward sank a jumper with 3:56 showing on the fourth-quarter clock to push Old Westbury's lead to a game-high 28 points (79-51). 

Robinson poured in a game-high 21 points (7-of-14 FG, 4-of-7 3FG) to lead five Panthers in double-digit scoring.  She also added six assists (game-high), three steals and one block to her statline.  Monique Joseph followed with a career-best 16 points (8-of-14 FG).  Renker totaled 12 points (5-of-10 FG) and 12 rebounds (seven offensive), in addition to tying her career-high with four assists and four blocks to post her seventh double-double of the season.  Bridgid McNeill came off the bench to tie a career-high with 14 rebounds (six offensive) as she scored 10 points to register her third-career double-double.  Ruth Vargas added 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals for her seventh-career double-double.  Bellings chipped in with five assists and four steals (tied career-high).

Kelly Nola paced Mount Saint Vincent with 16 points (3-of-4 3FG) as Dez Browne scored 10 (5-of-7 FG). 
 
In the end, Old Westbury connected on 46.5 percent (33-of-71) from the field, 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from 3-point range and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Mount Saint Vincent hit on 29.6 percent (21-of-71) from the floor, 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from beyond the arc and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 56-39, scoring 21 second-chance points off 22 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury also held the edge in blocks (7-4) and assists (24-12) while scoring 27 points off 27 Dolphin turnovers.
 
FARMINGDALE STATE COLLEGE RAMS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains at home Thursday (Feb. 2) for a Skyline Conference National Girls & Women in Sports Day showdown with the Farmingdale State College Rams at 7 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.
