@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer collides with Lehman at home

Old Westbury returns to the road Friday (Oct. 13) for a Skyline Conference matchup versus SUNY Maritime

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision Wednesday afternoon to the Lehman College Lightning (5-6-1) in non-conference action inside Panther Park.

Lehman took a 1-0 lead into the half by scoring in the 44th minute as Daniela Castro knocked in Pamela Sanchez-Espejel's rebound past Panther goalie Alexa Higgins (1-10-0) for the decisive goal.  The Lightning held a 14-2 first-half advantage in shots with Shauna Henderson landing a shot on frame for Old Westbury.

Lillian Barreto scored on Panther goalie Mary Clark after gathering a loose ball in the box with one second left to settle the 2-0 final. 

Higgins stopped five first-half shots before Clark made a career-high nine saves in the second half in defeat for Old Westbury.  Rebecca Gritz (6-6-1) made five saves to secure Lehman's win.

In the end, Lehman held the edge in shots (30-7), shots on goal (16-5) and corner kicks (5-2).

SUNY MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels to Throggs Neck, New York on Friday (Oct. 13) for a Skyline Conference showdown versus the SUNY Maritime Privateers (4-6-1, 1-4-0 Skyline) at 7 p.m. from Reinhart Field.
