Strong first half sends @OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer to Skyline win over Sarah Lawrence

Old Westbury returns to the pitch Friday (Oct. 20) at College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action

FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer put together a strong first half to earn a 3-1 Skyline Conference victory over the Sarah Lawrence College Gryphons (4-11-0, 0-7-0 Skyline) Tuesday evening on the Farmingdale State College campus in Farmingdale, New York.

Camary Jonas broke the scoring ice on Panther goalie Mike Warren (7-4-3) to give Sarah Lawrence the early lead in the 10th minute.  Old Westbury (7-4-3, 3-2-1 Skyline) responded with the equalizer as Alexander Routledge headed the loose ball past Gryphon goalie Mehran Hicks (1-10-0) in the 16th minute.  Jorey Garcia later finished a feed from Nikolas Sgaraglio in the 25th minute for his team-leading eighth goal of the season (third game-winner) to send Old Westbury into intermission with a 2-1 advantage.

Garcia found Dominick Guidice for a one-touch goal in the 85th minute to record his 36th-career score to settle the 3-1 final.

Warren made three saves to secure the win for Old Westbury as Hicks stopped 10 shots in defeat for Sarah Lawrence.

In the end, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (36-8), shots on goal (14-4) and corner kicks (14-3).
