KINGS POINT, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball concluded the 2017 season with a 13-13 overall record (2-8 Skyline) after splitting a Skyline Conference road tri-match Saturday afternoon at United States Merchant Marine Academy. Old Westbury opened with a three-set sweep (26-24, 25-19, 25-16) over the Purchase College Panthers (0-22, 0-8) before falling in straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 25-18) to the host Mariners inside Liebertz Gymnasium. Third-year head coach Rich Borawski helped lead Old Westbury to its best season since 2011, when the Panthers posted a 19-15 record.

Old Westbury opened the Purchase match hitting .129 in the first set before tapering off in the next two stanzas to finish attacking at a .040 clip. Purchase hit .065 in the match while Old Westbury held the advantage in aces (20-9), assists (22-20) and blocks (5-2).

Kyraleigh Zinnel combined 17 digs, 11 assists and nine aces to post her seventh double-double of the season in leading Old Westbury. Kristin Grieshaber followed with 10 digs, nine assists, six kills and two aces while Daesha Garrison added 10 digs, six kills and five aces. Marie McKenzie totaled two solo blocks and a block assist up front for the Panthers.

Noelle Miller dished out 18 assist to pace Purchase while Alex Lally had 12 digs and nine kills.

Against USMMA, Old Westbury saved its best for last by hitting .095 in the final set to finish the match attacking -.060. The Mariners hit at a rate of .182 and held the edge in aces (16-8), assists (30-10) and blocks (6-2).

Garrison nailed down four kills to go along with two aces and seven digs to power Old Westbury. Zinnel chipped in with nine assists and two aces while McKenzie had three kills and two solo blocks. Shanayia Lloyd scooped eight digs to pace Old Westbury defensively.

Kyleigh Kappas' 22 assists moved the Mariner offense as Dominque Pope posted 10 kills on 17 swings in addition to serving five aces.
