@OW_Panthers Women’s Basketball rolls over York for ninth-straight win

Five Panthers scored in double-digits to improve Old Westbury to 9-0

JAMAICA, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball outscored the York College Cardinals (3-7) by 30 points (47-17) in the final 20 minutes to claim a 95-44 non-conference road victory Friday evening from York College Gymnasium in Jamaica, New York. With the win, Old Westbury improved to 9-0 on the season.   

Destiny Marino's layup 39 seconds in broke the scoring ice and kickstarted a 10-3 run in favor of Old Westbury.  Giovana Rosado scored four-straight points to pull York within eight (15-7) before Bridgid McNeill's layup with 4:29 remaining ignited a 12-4 Panther run that pushed the lead to 18 points (29-11).  Old Westbury played with a double-digit lead for the final 34:29

Marino knocked down a jumper with 7:10 showing on the second-quarter clock to start a 9-0 run to make it a 42-20 game.  Davida Warren extended Old Westbury's lead with a layup for a first-half high 24 points (48-24).  Old Westbury outscored York by seven points (17-10) to take a 48-27 advantage into intermission.

Old Westbury clamped down defensively in the second half to hold York to just 17 points on 5-of-25 shooting from the field while scoring 21 points off 18 Cardinal miscues.  With 3:52 remaining in the fourth quarter, Imani Lariosa's jumper extended the Panthers' lead to a game-high 56 points (93-37).

Charlotte Renker scored a game-high 14 points (5-of-6 FG) and added six rebounds, four blocks (tied career-high) and three steals to her statline in leading Old Westbury.  Monique Joseph followed with 13 points (6-of-10 FG), seven assists, six steals and five rebounds.  McNeill chipped in 12 points (6-of-8 FG) and three steals.  Tyra Bellings and Tori Bellings scored 11 and 10 points, respectively while Warren grabbed 11 rebounds (tied career-high six offensive).

Sheahna Roscher paced York with nine points and eight rebounds.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 49.4 percent (40-of-81) from the field, 31.6 percent (6-of-19) from 3-point range and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, York hit on 26.9 percent (14-of-52) from the floor, 31.3 percent (5-of-16) from beyond the arc and 55 percent (11-of-20) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 47-36, while scoring 26 second-chance points off 27 offensive rebounds. The Panthers converted 31 Cardinal turnovers into  35 points.  Old Westbury led the way in assists (20-6), blocks (8-1), steals (17-6), fastbreak points (10-0), points in the paint (52-14) and bench points (42-19).

MOUNT SAINT MARY COLLEGE KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens the 2018 calendar year next Wednesday (Jan. 3) on the road with a Skyline Conference showdown against the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (6-5, 4-1 Skyline) at 7 p.m. inside Kaplan Center in Newburgh, New York.
