OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball closed out their regular-season home schedule Thursday evening with a closely contested 87-86 Skyline Conference victory over the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (9-15, 8-7 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center Center.

Jamail Stanley scored four of his 13 first-half points to help Old Westbury (17-7, 13-2 Skyline) jump out to a 6-2 lead. St. Joseph's answered with an 11-0 run from 18:54 to 15:47 to build a seven-point cushion (13-6). The Panthers then put together a 16-2 run from 15:28 to 11:02 to grab the first-half lead for good to make it a 24-17 game. Old Westbury extended its first-half advantage to 10 (32-22) before St. Joseph's pulled within one (44-43) by scoring 21 of the next 33 points with 48 seconds left. Terrin Roland sank a pair of free-throws with seconds remaining to send the Panthers into the break with a 46-43 lead.

Old Westbury continued to play with the lead for the final 20 minutes as Stephon Odle knocked down a triple to spark a 12-6 run to extend the lead to nine (58-49) with 14:07 remaining. St. Joseph's responded with a 12-5 spurt after Isaiah Moore's jumper trimmed the deficit to two (63-61) with 10:46 left. Roland ignited a 9-2 run from 10:09 to 8:41 to push the Panthers' lead back to nine (72-63). The Golden Eagles made it a one-point game (87-86) with five seconds left as Dan Nappi's pair of free-throws capped a 12-5 run. Following a costly Panther turnover by Lylle Ryals, St. Joseph's misfired on two attempts from the field as Old Westbury held on for the 87-86 win.

Stanley finished with game-highs of 28 points (10-of-15 FG, 7-of-7 FT), 11 rebounds and four blocks to go with three steals to record his 17th double-double of the season (30th career). Roland scored a career-high 14 points (5-of-8 FG, 2-of-2 3FG) and grabbed seven rebounds. Odle contributed 11 points and two steals while Luckens Victor chipped in 10 points (5-of-8 FG), 10 rebounds (five offensive) and two blocks to register his fourth-career double-double.

Isaiah Moore paced St. Joseph's with 26 points (9-of-14 FG, 5-of-6 3FG), five rebounds, one block and one steal. Andy Laurent poured in 24 points (8-of-17 FG, 7-of-7 FT). Nappi (5-of-10 FG) and Joe Santoro scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from the field, 33.3 percent (6-of-18) from 3-point range and 17-of-17 from the free-throw line. By comparison, St. Joseph's hit on 45.6 percent (31-of-68) from the floor, 32 percent (8-of-25) from beyond the arc and 84.2 percent (16-of-19) from the charity stripe. Old Westbury won the boards battle, 50-26, scoring 21 second-chance points off 17 offensive rebounds. Both teams drew even in steals (7-7) while Old Westbury held the advantage in blocks (8-3) and assists (17-11). The Panthers scored nine points off 13 Golden Eagle turnovers.

YESHIVA UNIVERSITY MACCABEES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels to Manhattan to close out the regular-season slate Saturday (Feb. 18) evening with a Skyline Conference showdown against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (14-9, 10-5 Skyline) at 8:30 p.m. inside Max Stern Athletic Center.
