OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury softball (3-7, 3-7 Skyline) dropped a Skyline Conference home doubleheader Saturday afternoon to The Sage Colleges Gators (10-10, 7-1 Skyline) with 9-0 and 4-0 decisions inside Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.Â
Game 1 (6 inn.): Sage 9, Old Westbury 0
Game one's 1-0 pitcher's duel came to an end with a three-run fifth inning by the Gators. After reaching on a fielding error in left field by
Otilia Bernal (0-0), Allison Ford (1-4, 3R) scored off a Katy Rimawi (2-4, 2B, RBI, 2R) double down the left field line. The inning continued with a two-out double to left field from Destiny Wierzbicki (3-4, 2B, 4RBI, 2R)Â that drove home Rimawi to increase Sage's lead to 3-0. Trouble continued for the Panthers as
Amanda Neenan (0-2, K) dished out a two-out walk to Amy Hart (1-3, R, RBI, BB, K), which kept the inning alive for Samantha Montague (1-3, 2B, RBI) to double to right centerfield bringing home Wierzbicki for what would prove to be the final run of the inning. Old Westbury's defense brought the fifth to a close with a groundout to
Amanda Fucci (1-3) at third base.

After a quick bottom of the fifth, the Gators poured out five runs in the sixth inning to claim the eventual final score of 9-0. A one-out error put Ford on base once again for Sage, which forced Old Westbury to retire Neenan for the day.
Nicole DeCola (0.2 IP, 4H, 4R, 0K) entered the circle and was charged with four of the innings five runs. The big hit of the inning came from Wierzbicki, who singled to left field to drive home Kristen Silk (1-3, R, BB) and Rimawi.

Yet, the Panthers' did not give up the fight. In the bottom of the sixth,
Gabriella Valdes (0-3, K) reached on a throwing error and the advanced to second on base hit from
Samantha Scharff (2-3). However, Valdes remained stuck in scoring position before getting caught in a double play to end the game.

Neenan (L, 1-3; 5.1IP, 7H, 5R, 2ER, 3BB, 4K) faced the loss and dropped to 1-3 on the season. The win went to Ford (W, 7-4; 6.0IP, 5H, 5K), who improved to 6-4 overall.

Game 2: Sage 4, Old Westbury 0
The Panthers' were in a position to break free of a scoreless set of five innings with a series of Gators errors that loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning. However, Old Westbury would strand three runners with a force out at home and back-to-back called strikeouts ended the inning.

The stalemate was ended in the top of the seventh as Kristen Silk (1-3, R) scored, unearned, on a Panthers' fielding error. The Gators went on to put three more runs for the eventual final score of 4-0.
