BROOKLYN, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer wasted no time in starting the 2017 season off with a 5-0 road win over the Medgar Evers College Cougars (0-1-0) on Saturday afternoon at Aviator Field in Brooklyn.

The Panthers hit the back of the net twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Alexander Routledge broke the scoring ice all by himself to register his first-career game-winning goal 2:43 in. Jorey Garcia then found Fabrizio Chamorro to double Old Westbury's advantage for the two-goal lead in the seventh minute.

Chamorro later returned the favor by finding Garcia in the 64th minute to open the second-half scoring. Ronald Monge closed out the scoring books with Old Westbury's fourth (68th minute) and fifth goals (71st minute) via assists by Stephen Locurcio and Routledge, respectively.

Mike Warren (1-0-0) made two saves in a complete-game effort to record his second-career shutout to lead Old Westbury to victory. James Hyacinthe (0-1-0) stopped six shots and allowed all five goals in defeat for Medgar Evers.

In the end, Old Westbury held the edge in shots (22-10) and corner kicks (3-2).

KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury is set for its home opener Wednesday (Sept. 6) against the Kean University Cougars (0-1-0) at 4 p.m. from Panther Park.
