Skyline Conference Championship Central

NEWBURGH, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer was unable to overcome a two-goal halftime deficit Wednesday evening as the top-seeded Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-5-1) collected a 3-0 home win in the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals from Kaplan Field in Newburgh, New York.  The Knights remain at home for Saturday's championship game against No. 3 United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (12-4-2).

The fourth-seeded Panthers, who advanced to the Skyline Championship semifinals for the second-straight season, lost just six of their 20 games to finish the year with a 9-6-5 record.

In the opening stanza, the Knights found the back of the net on a pair of free kicks by Matthew Wyant (28:29) and Connor Lynch (31:55) in a span of 2:26 to give the Knights a two-goal lead heading into intermission.

The defending champions stretched their lead to three in the 52nd minute as Fred Stark found Anthony Gugliemo in the box to put the finishing touches on a 3-0 victory.

Mike Warren (9-6-5) turned away six shots for the Panthers while Tyler Rapp (8-4-1) stopped six to secure a cleansheet for the Knights.

Mount Saint Mary finished with the advantage in shots (13-12) and shots on target (9-6) as the Panthers led the way in corner kicks (4-2).
