@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer extends Skyline unbeaten streak with Mount Saint Mary draw

Old Westbury remains on the road Sunday (Oct. 7) for its non-conference finale against Lehman College

NEWBURGH, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer drew a 0-0 Skyline Conference road decision Friday evening to the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (7-4-1, 3-0-1 Skyline) from Kaplan Field in Newburgh, New York.  The Panthers (4-4-4, 1-0-4 Skyline) have now registered four-consecutive ties and move to 3-5-2 in their last ten matchups against Mount Saint Mary.

Panther goalie Mike Warren (4-4-4) was tested early in the game and saved shots by Matthew Fuge and Max Antisell in the ninth and 11th minute, respectively.

Ronald Monge responded by firing a shot on goal at 11:08 in that was stopped by Knight goalie Tyler Rapp (2-3-1).  Edens Avril also tested Rapp at 19:35 and blasted a shot that cleared the crossbar in the 27th minute.

In the second half, Old Westbury's defense stepped up by holding the Knights without a shot on goal.  In the 48th minute, Monge took the Panthers' lone second-half shot on goal. The second stanza featured a total of four shots by the Knights as Old Westbury took two.  The scoreless stalemate would set the stage for overtime.

In overtime, Warren made a huge save in the 93rd minute on Bobby Caronia.  Old Westbury took the final four shots of the contest but were unable to find the back of net to settle for a scoreless draw.

Warren turned away a total of five shots for the Panthers to earn his 13th-career shutout while Rapp stopped six for the Knights.

The Knights finished with the advantage in shots (12-10) and corner kicks (2-0) while the Panthers landed six shots on target compared to Mount Saint Mary's five.

LEHMAN COLLEGE LIGHTNING UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury continues its road trip Sunday (Oct. 7) afternoon with its non-conference finale at 12 p.m. against the Lehman College Lightning (5-6-0) at South Field in Bronx.  The Panthers hold a 2-1-2 record against the Lightning dating back to 2013.
