Old Westbury returns to campus Saturday (Apr. 28) for a Senior Day, Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Skyline Conference doubleheader against Sarah Lawrence College

STATEN ISLAND, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury softball dropped an 8-0 and 11-3 non-conference road decisions to the College of Staten Island Dolphins (18-10) Thursday evening from CSI Softball Complex in Staten Island.  Old Westbury (12-12) has now lost seven of the last 10 games to Staten Island.

Game 1 (6 Inn.): Staten Island 8, Old Westbury 0
Staten Island took an early four-run lead in the first inning with Erica Olsen's two-run single to score Vanessa Jioia for the game-winning run off Panther starter Lauren Bloom (L, 5-3: 9 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 3 K).  Julianna Cretella doubled home Olsen and later scored off Christina Cerverizzo's single to give the Dolphins the 4-0 lead.

Jioia grounded out to third baseman Amanda Neenan to round home Antoinette Galbo who reached base off a triple to right center a batter earlier in the fifth inning to make it a 5-0 game.

Alison Meagher launched one over the center field fence to score three for Staten Island to settle the 8-0 run-rule final.

Nicolette Trapani (W, 8-6) finished with a no-hit bid in six innings of work by striking out 11 batters while allowing three walks to record Staten Island's complete game shutout.

Game 2 (6 Inn.): Staten Island 11, Old Westbury 3
Old Westbury broke the scoring ice with three runs in the first inning off Dolphin starter Meagher (W, 9-4: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K).  Kaite Skelly (1-for-3) hit a two-out RBI single to right field to score Amelia Cariddi. Neenan (2-for-3) followed by slapping a two-run double to round home Amanda Fucci and Samantha Arcese to give the Panthers the early 3-0 lead.

Staten Island responded in the bottom of the frame with one run off Panther starter Nicole Baron (L, 4-6: 5.2 IP, 18 H, 11 R, 11 ER, 3 K).  Patricia Riches used a leadoff double to get on base before scoring on a Jamie Holmes' single to pull the Dolphins within two runs, 3-1.

The Dolphins put four runs to the board in the second inning to take the lead for good.  Riches helped her cause with a double up the middle to score two and knot the game at three.  Two batters later, Jioia's two-run triple scored Meagher for the game-winning run and extend Staten Island's advantage, 5-3.

Staten Island reached one in the fourth inning as Jioia ground out to second baseman Skelly to score Riches and make it a 6-3 game.
