OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) No. 5 SUNY Old Westbury softball were eliminated from Skyline Conference Championship play Wednesday afternoon with a 1-0 first-round setback to the fourth-seeded College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (17-16) from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex in Old Westbury, New York.  Picked to finish tied for seventh in the conference standings prior to the start of the season, Old Westbury (14-13) made its return to the Skyline Conference Championship for the first time since 2012. Mount Saint Vincent advances to the double-elimination round hosted by St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Friday at 2 p.m. against No. 1 Mount Saint Mary College.

Locked in a pitcher's duel early on, Mount Saint Vincent hit a pair of singles off Panther starter Lauren Bloom (L, 6-4: 5 H, R, BB, 2K) in the third inning.  With runners in scoring position, Bloom settled down to retire back-to-back batters to escape out of the jam.

The Panthers then worked a leadoff single by Amelia Cariddi and a pair of walks off Dolphin starter Rachel Heizer (W, 10-8: 5 H, 3 BB, 4 K) in the fourth inning to set the stage for Jessica Schwartz (2-for-3), who went down swinging to strand the bases loaded.

After Heizer singled to lead off Mount Saint Vincent's fourth, Taylor Milata slapped a RBI triple to right field to drive in the game-winning run.

Old Westbury threatened in the fifth as Nicole Baron led off with a single and stole second.  Heizer then induced a fly out to end the inning.

The Panthers opened the seventh with a Schwartz single.  Schwartz was then thrown out at second trying to advance off Baron's bunt.  Baron moved to second on Jessica Livingston's ground out before Heizer secured the win with a Bloom fly out.

The Panthers graduate a three-member senior class consisting of Otilia Bernal, Amanda Fucci and Jessica Tuckruskye
