OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball closed out play at the Old Westbury Labor Day Invitational Saturday afternoon with a three-set loss (25-9, 25-15, 25-12) to the visiting William Paterson University Pioneers (1-0) inside Clark Athletic Center.

Old Westbury (1-2) was limited to hitting .033 with 19 kills on 91 swings, compared to William Paterson's .273 attacking percentage. The Pioneers finished with the advantage in kills (42-19), aces (6-2), assists (35-19) and digs (51-46) as Old Westbury held a 3-2 edge in blocks.

Joelle Desrosiers had one solo block and nailed down nine kills on 20 swings to hit .450 in leading the Panthers. Kyraleigh Zinnel and Kristin Grieshaber directed the offense with 10 and nine assists, respectively. Sofia Goris spearheaded the defensive efforts with 19 digs while Danielle Corsi tallied two blocks.

Alyson Toman registered a match-high 14 kills to hit .522 as Kendall Caruso's 30 assists captained the offense. Dakota Apicella served three digs and Barbara Colizza scooped 11 digs to contribute to the Pioneers' win.

BARUCH COLLEGE BEARCATS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury opens an eight-game road trip Thursday (Sept. 6) with a non-conference matchup against the Baruch College Bearcats from ARC Arena in Manhattan at 6 p.m.
