@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer opens home slate against Bryn Athyn

Old Westbury remains at home Sunday (Sept. 9) against Pratt Institute

OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer opened their home schedule Saturday after with a 4-1 loss to the Bryn Athyn College Lions (1-0-1) in non-conference action from Panther Park.  The setback moved Old Westbury (0-3-0) to 3-4 in its home openers since 2012.

Shelby Puccio finished a run from Ashley Rivera at 13:42 for the breakaway goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.  Tori Titano doubled Bryn Athyn's advantage 1:14 later by sending a strike past Panther goal Alexa Higgins (0-3-0) for the two-goal cushion. Rivera scored on a breakaway to make it a 3-0 game in the 42nd minute.

Titano added her second score of the day in the 58th minute to build the lead to four before Old Westbury scored as Cara Normile's cross was mishandled by keeper Allie Warren (1-0-1) for the own goal.  

In the end, Bryn Athyn held the edge in shots (16-10), shots on goal (11-6) and corner kicks (3-0).  

Higgins finished with seven saves as Warren stopped five.    

PRATT INSTITUTE CANNONEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury remains at home Sunday (Sept. 9) for a non-conference showdown with the Pratt Institute Cannoneers (0-2-0) at 12 p.m. from Panther Park.
