Old Westbury finished the season with a 7-10-2 record

Skyline Conference Championship Central

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) No. 5 SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer fell behind early and were unable to recover Saturday afternoon as the fourth-seeded Farmingdale State College Rams (10-10-0) collected a 1-0 victory at home in the Skyline Conference Championship first-round from Rams Field in Farmingdale, New York.  Farmingdale State will travel to Newburgh, New York for Wednesday's (Nov. 6) semifinal game against top-seeded and two-time defending champion Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-5-1).  The Panthers finished the season with a 7-10-2 record before clinching its fourth-straight postseason berth.

In the opening stanza, the Rams found the back of the net in the 19th minute as Bryan Arugeta buried the game-winning goal past Panther goalie James Perciballi (7-10-2).  Old Westbury turned up the offensive intensity in the second half, holding a 10-5 shot advantage.  The team's best opportunities for the equalizer came off the boots of Michael DaSilva (80:16) and Rudy Salmeron (80:29), where Justin Silva (9-8-0) and the Rams' defensive line sent away the on-target attempts, respectively, to settle the 1-0 final.

Perciballi turned away five shots for the Panthers while Silva stopped six to secure a cleansheet for the Rams.

Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (14-13), shots on goal (8-6) and corner kicks (7-5).

At the conclusion of the game, head coach John DiRico and seniors Stephen Locurcio and Grixon Moreira participated in the post-game interview:

Old Westbury graduates a three-member senior class consisting of Locurcio (2016-19), Moreira (2018-19) and Mario Silva (2015, 2019)
