@OW_Panthers Softball concludes 8-game Skyline stretch at Farmingdale State

Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Apr. 3) for a non-conference showdown against Hunter College

FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury softball closed out a stretch of eight-straight Skyline Conference games Saturday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York with 3-0 and 4-0 road losses to the Farmingdale State College Rams (4-12, 4-0 Skyline) from Rams Field.  The Panthers (7-8, 2-6 Skyline) move to 1-5 against the Rams since 2017.

Game 1: Farmingdale 3, Old Westbury 0
Farmingdale State broke the scoring in the opening frame with a Jessica Lombardo (2-for-3, 2 RBI) two-out single that scored Priscilla Rivera (2-for-3, 2 R, BB, 3B, SB) for the game-winning run off starter Nicole Baron (L, 5-5: 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K).

Old Westbury threatened in the third inning, but were unable to capitalize on Ram starter Jaxie Collard (W, 2-5: 7 IP, 5 H, BB, 5 K) as the Panthers stranded two runners on base.

The Rams tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to settle the 3-0 final.

Baron stranded nine Rams on base to log her 10th complete game of the year.

Game 2 : Farmingdale 4, Old Westbury 0
Panther starter Baron (L, 5-6: 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 3 K; 1-for-3) put Old Westbury in the hit column with a one-out single in the second inning off starter Madeleine Smith (W, 2-5: 7 IP, 3 H, 3 K).

Farmingdale State opened the scoring in the second as Sierra Cardenales (2-for-2, 3 RBI, BB) singled to left field to score Lombardo (2-for-3, 2 R) for the game-winning run.

In the fourth inning, Julianna Prescia (2-for-2, R, 3B) slapped a leadoff triple to center field before scoring off Cardenales' single to double the Rams' advantage (2-0).

Farmingdale State put the game out of reach in the fifth scoring two runs to build a four-run advantage.

Amanda Neenan (2-for-3) tested Smith with third and sixth inning singles.  Baron registered her 21st-career complete-game effort in defeat for Old Westbury.

HUNTER COLLEGE HAWKS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury travels Wednesday (Apr. 3) to Manhattan to take on the Hunter College Hawks (4-4) with a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader from Randall's Island #12.  The Panthers split a doubleheader a season ago with Hunter and are 5-8 against the Hawks since 2010.
