YAPHANK, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury baseball collected a 5-2 win in the opener Saturday afternoon and erased a three-run deficit in the finale to settle for a 6-6 tie against the Southern Vermont University Mountaineers (1-3) in non-conference action from Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York.  The Panthers (1-2-1) continue its 18-game road trip next Saturday (Mar. 16) with a six-game swing at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Game 1: Old Westbury 5, Southern Vermont 2
Brandon Wilson (3-for-4, 2 R, RBI) broke Old Westbury into the hit column with a one-out double off Mountaineer starter Ryan RIchardson (L, 0-1: 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K).  John Condon followed with a RBI single to drive home Wilson for the first-inning lead.Old Westbury went up by three on Richardson during the third inning.  Peter Capel doubled in Wilson and then came around to score the game-winning run two batters later on a Shaun Kaminski (2-for-3, 2 SB) single.

The Mountaineers made it a one-score game in the fourth as Kyle Liddy took Panther starter Christian Tessitore (W, 1-1: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 7 K) deep with a two-run shot over the left center fence.

Old Westbury answered in the home half of the fourth with a RBI single by Wilson to plate home Michael Borsch for the 4-2 lead.

Dom Kriegel settled the 5-2 final with a two-out RBI single to score Drew Robertson in the fifth inning.

Tessitore fanned five batters during the second and third frames to secure his first win of the year while reliever Brandon O'Brien registered three strikeouts and tossed three scoreless innings to nail down his first-career save.

Game 2: Old Westbury 6, Southern Vermont 6
The Panthers jumped ahead early with a Capel RBI single to right to score Condon (4-for-4, 4 RBI) in the first inning for the game's initial run.

Southern Vermont replied in the second frame with four runs on four hits off Panther starter Patrick Quinn (ND: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 7 K).  Zac Cronk drilled a two-run double to make it a 3-1 game before Zac Stacey's RBI triple extended the lead the three.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, Condon delivered a two-run single to right field off Mountaineer starter Joe Braim (ND, 5.1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 3 BB, 4 K).

The Mountaineers tacked on a single runs in the fifth and sixth innings off reliever Matt Bohenek to lead by three (6-3).  Old Westbury tied the game with a three-run sixth. Kaminski led off with a double and scored two batters laters on a Matt Daulton sacrifice fly.  Four batters later, Condon slapped a two-run single off reliever Ryan Serrato to advance Mike Manetta (1-for-3, 2 R, BB) and Wilson across for the equalizer.

After a scoreless seventh that saw both teams threaten with baserunners at first, the game was called due to darkness.

Old Westbury pitching combined to strikeout 11 batters while issuing just one walk.
