Men’s Soccer collides with St. Joseph’s (L.I.) in Skyline battle

Old Westbury remains on the road Saturday (Sept. 28) for a Skyline Conference tilt versus Manhattanville College

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer dropped a 4-2 Skyline Conference road decision to the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Golden Eagles (2-5-0, 2-1-0 Skyline) Wednesday afternoon from Danzi Stadium in Patchogue, New York.

St. Joseph's put one past Old Westbury (3-4-1, 1-1-0 Skyline) goalie James Perciballi (3-4-1) in the 21st minute as Rayneri Ruiz finished off a feed from Damian Duda for the 1-0 lead.  Ruiz returned the favor with a through ball to Duda in the 28th minute to double the Golden Eagles' advantage.  The Panthers broke though in the 33rd minute as Stephen Locurcio buried his second-career goal off of Grixon Moreira's free kick.  St. Joseph's then built a two-goal cushion courtesy of Ruiz netting home Alex Tarach's through ball in the 34th minute to send the 3-1 game into intermission.

Old Westbury pressured Golden Eagle goalie Tyler Flaherty (2-3-0) with five shots, three being on target, in the opening 11:21 of the second period.  The Panthers found success at the 67:45 mark as Moreira connected with Michael Gilligan before Ruiz claimed the hat trick 1:06 later for St. Joseph's to settle the 4-2 final.

Perciballi finished with three saves on the day while Flaherty stopped five shots to secure the win.

At the end of 90 minutes, Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (14-10) and corner kicks (5-2) while both teams drew even with seven shots on goal.
