Women’s Volleyball takes down Lehman for season-opening win

Old Westbury is back in action next Tuesday (Sept. 10) for its home opener against Baruch College

BRONX, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball opened the 2019 campaign Wednesday evening with a convincing sweep (25-13, 25-12, 25-12) of the Lehman College Lightning (0-3) inside APEX Arena in Bronx, New York.  With the win, the Panthers (1-0) move to a 2-6 mark versus the Lightning dating back to the 2011 campaign.
 
Old Westbury came out swinging in the first set, landing 10 kills on 17 attempts to hit a match-best .353. The Panthers finished the match hitting .210 compared to Lehman's -.208 output.  The Panthers dominated in kills (24-8), aces (23-6), assists (18-8) and digs (23-22).  Both teams totaled two blocks.
 
Kyraleigh Zinnel served a career-best 12 aces and dished out 10 assists to pace the Panthers.  Kristin Greishaber followed with a match-high seven kills to go along with three aces and three assists.  Joelle Desrosiers nailed down five kills while Ally Parker scooped up five digs.
 
Ariana Pradieuhad finished with three kills while Chrissy Tran produced a match-best eight digs to lead Lehman.
 
UP NEXT:
Old Westbury returns to campus next Tuesday (Sept. 10) for its home opener against the Baruch College Bearcats in non-conference action starting at 6 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center. The Panthers will enter next week's matchup with a 1-1 mark against Baruch dating back to 2017.
