Women’s Soccer outlast CCNY, 2-1

Old Westbury remains at home Monday (Sept. 9) for a non-conference matchup versus the King’s College (NY)

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer collected a 2-1 non-conference home win Saturday afternoon against the City College of New York Beavers (1-2-0) from Panther Park.  With the win, the Panthers (2-1-0) move to a 4-2 mark over the Beavers dating back to the 2010 campaign.

Old Westbury took the early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute as Mia Almonte rebounded Brianna Williams' shot and buried her third goal of the season.  CCNY responded with the game-tying tally in the 34th minute, courtesy of Gabrielle Duchausse finishing a feed from Cassidy Canberg, and sent a 1-1 game into intermission.

In the 65th minute, Gabby Lamanno sent a longball to Britney Graham, who put away her first-career game-winning goal past a diving Catherine Langkamp (1-2-0) to settle the 2-1 final.

At the end of 90 minutes, Old Westbury held the advantage in shots (18-9), shots on target (9-4) and corner kicks (7-1).

Panther goalie Umanzor made two first-half saves before Nolan (1-1-0) turned away one shot in the second half to claim her first-career win.  Langkamp stopped seven shots in defeat for CCNY.
