Women's Hoops lose momentum in OT 72-75 to Yeshiva University

Ja'Nya Flash scores 28 points and 19 points in another Double Double

Old Westbury, NY

The SUNY Old Westbury Women's Basketball team traveled to play Yeshiva University in a Skyline match-up on December 7, 2021.  The Old Westbury Panthers(1-2, 1-2 Skyline) lost to the Yeshiva University Macabees (4-5, 3-5 Skyline) with the score of 72-75 in OT.

The Old Westbury Panthers had multiple players contribute to the scoring during play in the 1st quarter with a lead of 14-10.  Melinda Harris and Samirah Akinfunmi added to the lead with their 3 point shots as the Panthers took a half time lead of 10 points with an intermission score of 34-24.  Ja'nya Flash provided that dominance and spark hitting additional jump shots to again produce a double double with 28 points and 19 rebounds.
During the 2nd half the Yeshiva Macabees made some key 3 point baskets to climb back into the game.  The scoring margin in the 3rd period was 25 to 16 in the Macabees favor.  Starting the 3rd quarter the score was 50-49 in Old Westbury's favor.  Old Westbury pulled ahead during the 4th quarter but with the persistence of the Yeshiva team they tied the score 66-66 with :22 seconds remaining.  The Old Westbury Panthers were unsuccessful with a 3 point shot as time expired allowing the game to continue into overtime.

In overtime, Ja'nya Flash 4 points and foul shot totaling 5 points and teammate, Melinda Harris foul shot contribution were not enough to withstand Yeshiva's jump shot, 3 point shot and contribution from the foul line.  The final score on the evening was 72-75 giving the Old Westbury Panthers their second conference play loss.

Farmingdale State Athletics - Statement Regarding Fans - Winter 2021-22

The following rules are in place for spectators effective immediately (New rules are highlighted in BOLD):

1. All fans must show proof of vaccination (NYS Excelsior Pass, vaccination card) upon entering the facility OR provide a negative PCR COVID test taken within 72 hours of the posted game time OR show a negative rapid test result taken within 4 hours of the posted game time. This is mandatory for everyone ages five and older. If one of these three are not presented, you WILL NOT be allowed inside Nold Hall.

2. All fans must wear masks indoors at all times regardless of your vaccination status.

3. Fans are required to practice social distancing protocols.

4. Spectators are not permitted to interact with players or coaches before, during or after games.

5. Tailgating is not permitted.
