Softball Falls in Skyline Doubleheader at Mt. St. Mary's

The Old Westbury softball team lost two Skyline contests at Mt. St. Mary's on Friday evening.

Game One: Old Westbury 0, Mt. St. Mary's 12
Mount Saint Mary College opened the game with a quick start with three runs on three hits and three walks in the bottom half of the first inning. The Knights added four runs in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning, totaling 10 hits. 

Old Westbury collected just one hit in the effort; Sara Welti hit a bunt single in the first inning. Gianna DiLillo took the loss in the circle, allowing nine runs on nine hits and four walks.

Game Two: Old Westbury 3, Mt. St. Mary's 11
Mount Saint Mary scored first in game two of the doubleheader with five runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits, a walk, and two fielding errors. 

Old Westbury closed the gap with three runs in the top of the third inning. Natalie Intrieri (1-for-3, R) led off the inning with a single through the right side, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Shannon Myles (1-for-2) walked and Alaina Reilly (1-for-3, R) singled to score Intrieri. Madison Danin (1-for-3) then reached on an error that allowed Myles to score, and Gianna Ventiere (1-for-2, RBI) hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Reilly to cross the plate.

The Knights scored three more runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to extend the lead and closeout the win. Christina Hassett took the loss on the mound for Old Westbury, surrendering nine runs on ten hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
