The Old Westbury men's basketball team lost a Skyline Conference contest against the College of Mount Saint Vincent (5-8, 2-3) by a score of 79-76 in overtime on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
- Both teams traded points through the first half, but Old Westbury ended the half on an 8-0 run to go into halftime with a 10 point lead, 41-31.
- Early on in the second half, the Dolphins scored their own 8-0 run to tie the game 49-49.
- With 3:55 remaining in the game, the score was tied 62-62. Zachary Cummings scored two free throws and a jumper to give Old Westbury the lead 66-62. Joshua Cabezudo scored for CMSV in the next position to close the gap to two points. Both teams went scoreless for the next two minutes until DJ Tucker scored the tying basket with six seconds remaining to sent the game into overtime.
- CMSV took the lead in over time with a five point run to lead 73-68. Old Westbury came within one point, but Cabezudo went 7-8 at the free throw line in the last minute to secure the win for the Dolphins.
